FULL VIEW, PLEASE!!

I think I'll make a more enchanting background later on.

So, this is my second attempt at an entry in Nikkayla's contest to design Shini with a mate. So... here it is. I think it's much better than the last, and I tweaked a few things, as well as his story. So, yep, this is my official entry (you can add this, Nikkayla, lol).

Mekaliam is part of a breed called the Apocalypas, which are characterized by their blood red pelts and overall viciousness. They are carnivores, so their teeth fit the bill, with sharp incisors that can easily tear through even the toughest of hides. Additionally, they have three sharp, serated bladelike "horns" located on various parts of their bodies, including one on the chin (an odd place, but it makes an easy job of catching prey if you only have to bring your head down on it), two similar protrusions on the forelegs which can act like claws and which are very dangerous to get in the way of, three hooked horns on each side of the neck which are actually poisonous glands which can also aid in tearing, as well as a pair of horns attached to a very thick skull, which are generally used to protect themselves (as they are too far back to actually be used as a weapon). Additionally, their forelimbs are equipped with clawed toes (which are definitely something you don't want to get in the way of) while the hind limbs are simply your average hooves. And as you see, they've also got a pair of powerful wings and a tail that is thick and strong and which serves no better purpose other than looking cool. xD

And now a bit about Mekaliam himself...

Meka was born and raised as a mount for war, brutally and forcefully trained to carry mounts through the air and above the battlefield, where they would throw a bombardment of weapons down upon their enemies. Using Apocalypas became a very popular means of attack, as no one wants to be the one to shoot down one of these beasts... because then the rain of weapons along with a two ton animal would fall down on top of you. Meka, of course, was one of thousands of Apocalypas trained for this work, but he wasn't a very good candidate for the job, to be quite honest.

Mekaliam would often raise cain whenever his rider climbed atop his back, and through one of his renegades he ended up killing a mount and seriously injuring two of them while in the air. Obviously, as an air mount he was absolutely unrideable, so they made an attempt to tie down his wings. Of course, that didn't work too swiftly and he broke the chains that bound them to his sides, so they were forced to amputate part of his wings, a terrible procedure, especially when they didn't have the anesthetics to kill the pain. One of the operators was almost killed when the knife severed his wings, but the job was done, and Meka's freedom had been taken away.

However, he wasn't going to be brought down so easily. As a land mount, they supposed that he would be far easier to maintain, but he went insane without the power of his wings. They tried to detain him using a metal ring through his nostrils, hoping that the pain of the cold metal tugging on his skin would stop him... But it didn't, and the serating horn on his chin tore right through the metal links. (which gives you an example as to how sharp they really are). They also tried chaining his limbs and even, quite foolishly, his tail, but he was far too powerful for that and only managed wreaking more chaos. And as a last resort, they inserted two metal rings around his spine, hoping that the pain on his back as he tugged away would be enough to stop him...

But no. They resorted to many different tortuous methods of trying to detain the crimson beast, but it was no use whatsoever, and even when his red blood mingled with the scarlet of his coat, he couldn't be stopped. These horses were too precious and rare to be destroyed, yet they had no other choice. With the gun pointed to his head, they attempted to end the life of the wild Meka, the stallion who just couldn't be tamed. But...

Yep, you guessed it, he got away.
